Hi Lynn,
I’m from Australia and this news has travelled this far. Although I am new to climbing I have heard many amazing stories about Todd. He has now raised awareness of the issue with harnesses.
On another note. I was wondering if you could answer a question for me. I read you book a while ago and enjoyed the read. Recently someone mentioned your fall because you forgot to tie in correctly. Could you tell me which knot you used, if you can remember?
Kind regards and my sincerest condolances to those who knew Todd well.

Over the years I have been to a number of slide shows, Royal Robbins, Warren Harding, you Ms. Hill, but the first and greatest was Todd’s within a year after he and Paul had achieved greatness on the Salathe. It was the most riveting, hilarious, inspiring hour of my life. I got to share it with my father, and over the years we still tell the jokes he told and the trivails of the final pitch. I have not climbed in years but his spirit has always been with me in everything that I do, and I will never forget sitting there next to the projector, and him, a wide eyed 13 year old, just in complete awe. My father called me the other day, with almost a quiver in his voice, having just read in the NG of his passing. We sat there on the phone in silence, transported back to that nite, knowing those stories will never be the same. My heart hurts for his family and friends, for my sadness comes from only an hour with him, may peace come in time as the stories find there way back to the true hilarity that they are.

There is a really cool new channel coming to cable and satellite television. It is The Ski Channel. They say they will have everything you can do on a mountain and all mountain activities such as skiing, snowboarding, hiking, biking, backpacking, climbing, basejumping, etc. So little of this is on television now. Lets help these guys make this work. Go to their website and signup. http://www.theskichannel.com.
They have all kinds of contests, info and pretty cool stuff on their website.
About time!
