Lynn Hill Podcast for 10/25/05
October 28th, 2005 at 10:25 pm
Hi Lynn! This has nothing to do with the podcast per se’, I just wanted to say that I have just finished reading your book (my university library actually carried it!) and I wanted to say what a well written, organized and respectable, and of course AWESOME book it was. I am relativly new to the sport of climbing and having just started leading sport climbs (finally!) You have inspired me to climb to new levels both mentally and physically.
Also I noticed on the podcast about the destruction of the boulder, due to climbers actions. Having come from a bodybuilding/weightlifting background I know how peoples words and actions affect the look and outcomes of a sport.I just wanted to say that so far in my 10 months of climbing it has been refreshing to see someone in this sport who is articulate, well spoken, and wholesome as you are. A wonderful contribution! Keep up the good work! You are not just an inspiration to me, but to all as well.
Regards,
Patrick

Lynn: Smith Rock camp was great despite the weather. I learned a lot. Just got back from three days in J Tree this week. I did some aid climbing and photo rigging training with Bob Gaines and some free climbing… my footwork and confidence much improved thanks to your camp. I just listened to your voice in my head saying “that’s an expensive move” and “right foot, right hand” and “trust your feet!”
Re future camps, I agree that offering some more affordable weekend camps a good idea, as is planning times when weather odds are better (Bishop in March and Oregon in Nov means really rolling the dice - I drove home in snow). You might also think about a women only camp..
Thanks to you, Craig, Brad, Katie, Jim, and Brittany for a great experience.
