I’m happy to announce that the Sardinia camp details are coming along! We have some new photos of the climbing in Sardinia thanks to Craig Luebben, one of our climbing guides for the trip. The woman climbing in a few of these pictures is his wife, Sylvia, who is from Genova, Italy! I have also received some brand new mini-topo maps of the climbing areas located near Cala Ganone, the town where we will be staying (Northeastern region of Sardinia). There are 24 climbing areas listed on this map and many more areas located throughout the island. We will be staying at a hotel called, Parco Blu, also located in Cala Ganone, where our breakfast and dinners will be provided. We will prepare our own pack lunches since most days we will be out climbing or playing on the go. This is going to be a fantastic trip with plenty of
climbing, hiking, swimming and relaxation with people from all over the world! So far our sign-ups include one woman from Romania (currently living in Paris), one woman from Germany, a couple from Australia, and several Americans, including a few who attended our camps last year. After the editorial article comes out in Men’s Journal next month and the on-line advertising campaign by Climbing magazine, we should have a full group (12 clients and four guides).
Other than organizing the insurance, guides, hotel, and logistics, I have been up to the usual activities.
Last week I went climbing in Rifle for the first time this season and I’m looking forward to many more trips this summer. Last weekend my mother and two sisters visiting for a special “girls” reunion and we had the chance to do some fun activities together. Yesterday on our way to the airport, we visited the Denver Museum of Natural History where there was a fascinating exhibit called “Body World”. There were actual human cadavers on display in many forms from various cross sections of the body preserved in a resin compound, to full bodies suspended action (skate boarder, dancer, skier, etc…), featuring the skeletal structure, muscles, organs and even a pregnant woman with a five month old fetus inside her womb! Though I studied many anatomy books in college, it was amazing to see and learn about the human body in this way.
This weekend I will be attending the Telluride Mountain Film Festival (May 26—29), where there will be 80 films, 50 speakers, 11 galleries, and many interesting people. For more information, check out the web-site: www.mountainfilm.org, or call (970) 728-4123. I will introduce the video about my free ascent of the Leaning Tower with Katie Brown, and on Monday, I will be bouldering at the Illium boulders with anyone interested in joining us.
I will also be taking a short trip to Ventura, CA to the Patagonia headquarters, where I will attend a sales meeting. I will have a chance to see the new product line, discuss many other aspects of business, and have some fun hanging out with my friends!
The following week I will be leaving on a trip to France and Sardinia. I will go climbing with my friends in the Southwestern region of France for a week, then head to the Petzl Roctrip event held in the Gorge du Tarn area located near the town of Millau. From there, I will head to Sardinia to go climbing and finalize the details for the camp in September.
That’s it for now! Hopefully we will have more video up on the site soon, including some video of Sardinia where I was climbing at a place called, Cala Luna. Though you can’t really tell, in this video I was three months pregnant!
Thanks for checking out my blog!
